The Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) and Kabui Mother’s Association Manipur extremely happy and unable to find appropriate words to express thanks and gratitude to the Indian Coast Guard for launching of IPV Rani Gaidinliu-Inshore patrol vessel on 6th November, 2010 at Visakhapatnam, Andra Pradesh in honour and acknowledging the great contribution rendered by Freedom Fighter Rani Gaidinliu for the cause of India’s Independence during her lifetime. The patrol vessel 51.15 mtrs of length and 8.36 mtrs of breadth (168x27fts) was made by Hindustan Shipyard Limited under the initiative of Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India Freedom Fighter Rani Gaidinliu a Zeliangrong woman was born in the year 1915 at Longkao village of Tamenglong District of Manipur State and expired on 1993. During her lifetime she spent many years in jail for the cause of India’s Independence.
The Kabui Mother’s Association Manipur in the past had submitted memorandum to Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson National Advisory Council and Chairperson UPA, His Excellency, The Governor of Manipur, and Honourable Chief Minister of Manipur to name and dedicate one of the three market shed constructed at Khwairamband Bazar, Imphal after the Freedom Fighter Rani Gaidinliu in honour and showing respect to her great contribution rendered for the country. This proposal would have been more appropriate had it.
actually come from the State Govt. to the Central Govt. but it seems the State Govt could not realise and understand the reality of how much difficulties the Freedom Fighter faced for the cause of India’s Independence. The State Govt to understand this reality is far from one’s imagination because of too narrow outlook and indulge in petty politics. The State Govt fail to name one of the three market at Khwairamband Bazar is a glaring example that it is unable to understand the important role of Freedom Fighter. There would have been many places or things dedicated in her name had she belongs to other community than Kabui (Zeliangrong). Inspite of State Govt fail to acknowledge the great services rendered by Freedom Fighter Rani Gaidinliu for the cause of India, it will remain in a history with none can get such achievement unless India roll back to pre-Independence period and it is because of this fact that the Indian Coast Guard launched the patrol vessel in honour and respect of Freedom Fighter Rani Gaidinliu. It is hope that much more things would come up in future to show befitting honour to the Freedom Fighter Rani Gaidinliu invaluable contribution for the cause of India’s Independence.
