Disgruntled Cong MLAs to decide whether to joint BJP or else float new party

IMPHAL, Nov 28: Ripples of dissidence movement amongst Congress MLAs of the state who are against the present chief minister O Ibobi Singh is becoming clearer day by day as a number of Congress dissidents MLAs have started campaigning for the formation of new political party, ‘State Congress Party’ in order to defeat the Congress MLAs who are on the side of the present state chief minister in the ensuing 10 Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

Stating this, a source from the MPCC who spoke on condition of anonymity further mentioned that, cracks within the Congress have started appearing within the ruling Congress Legislative Party (CLP) of the state amongst MLAs whose hopes had been totally dismayed by the present chief minister of the state.

Many dissident Congress MLAs are on a silent campaign to oust the chief minister from his chair and are preparing different strategies to wage their dissident war.

The dissident Congress MLAs have begun intensification of their political moves with the nearing of the 10 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, expected to be preponed to the last week of November next although the deadline for the lapse of the current Assembly is February 2012.

It may be mentioned that those behind the dissidence movement are largely Congress MLAs who see no hope of getting Congress tickets in the ensuing 10 Manipur Legislative Assembly election in the state.

They have already held a round of talks with the leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh very recently and have given indication they may join the BJP.

In the meantime, highly placed reliable sources from the MPCC further added that the chief minister, along with loyal Congress MLAs and ministers already decided to award Congress tickets to the loyalists of the chief minister in 10 listed Assembly Constituencies of Wangkhei, Thongju, Andro, Uripok, Keishamthong, Wangjing Tentha, Sugunu, Wangkhem, Nambol and Bishnupur.

The source further said the final decisions of the Congress dissident MLAs on whether they would join the BJP Manipur Pradesh or to form a new party within the Congress is yet to be decided.
