IMPHAL Nov 28: A team of Imphal West district police commandos yesterday morning arrested a drug dealer and recovered a huge quantity of banned drugs from Changangei Lamkai in Imphal West district.
Briefing media persons in connection with the drug haul today at Imphal West Commando complex located at Minuthong, Th Krisnatombi, SDPO Imphal West CCDO disclosed that the drug along with the smuggler was arrested following a specific intelligent inputs about entry of huge amount of drugs into the state.
The SDPO further said a CDO team under the supervision of Addtl SP (Ops) I/W conducted checking and frisking operation in Changangei Lamkai area and arrested the drug dealer along with drugs.
The arrested drug dealer identified as Yumkhaibam Md. Riya Khan, 27, son of late Md. Alatim of Lilong Haoreibi was found possed 2 sacks of spasmo proxyvon (SP) tablet and nitrosun-10 (N-10) tablet. A total 1451 strips with 150 centre of nitrosun-10 (N-10) tablets were found from the possession of the smuggler.
He further said preliminary interrogation the arrested Md. Riya Khan came to the knowledge that the drugs were brought to Manipur by one Khulakpam Md. Ajiruddin alias Naha Amubi, 32, son of late Md Nizamuddin of Lilong Makha Leikai who has been drug smuggling since the past six months.
The SDPO further said interrogation of the arrested drug dealer have led police to get vital clue about drug supplier in the state and outside.
