Grenade attack at Fishery officer’s residence

IMPHAL, Nov 1: Miscreants lobbed two hand grenades at the residence of Leisangthem Kumar, 57, son of Iboton of Hoirangoithong Makha Maibam Leikai. Kumar is project officer of the state fishery department and both the hand grenades were found hurled this morning luckily the bombs failed to explodes.

Of the two grenades, one landed inside the residential premises of Kumar while the other was recovered outside the campus without the trigger pin.

A team of the Singjamei police later safely retrieved both the hand grenades.

Meanwhile, denouncing the bomb threat, a sit in protest demonstration was held in front of the gate of the residence L Kumar by a group of womenfolk of the locality.

Talking to media persons, Kumar’s wife disclosed that there has been no threat, intimidation or monetary demands of any sort from any section. Kumar’s wife also demanded concerned party to clarify for the motive behind the incident and appeal not to carry out such subversive activities in the populated area that caused panic among innocent civilian.
