Job card holders rise

IMPHAL, November 10: The number of Job cards holders under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme for the year 2010-11 (upto September 2010) has increased to 4.33 lakhs.
The figure was extracted from a report submitted recently by the Government of Manipur to a visiting team of planning commission.
The reports said that the number of Jobs cards issued increased from 3.86 lakhs in 2008-09 to 4.27 lakhs in 2009-10 and 4.33 lakhs in 2010-11 (upto September 2010). 337.04 lakhs Mandays (81 persondays) and 53.50 lakhs Mandays (18 persondays) employment generated during 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively.
Payment through banks and post office is about 54 percent in 2009-10 and 22 percent in 2010-11 and utilization increased from 91 percent to 96 percent during 2008-09 and 2009-10 besides that GOI released 122.99 crores during 2010-11 against which 55 percent (74.27 crores) has been utilized.
At the same time, utilization of funds under the Indira Awaj Yojana during the year 2010-11 is 58.73 percent as against 68.48 percent in 2009-10 and 48.58 percent in 2008-09 and physical achievement during 2010-11 is 19.74 percent as compared to 71 percent in 2009-10.
