IMPHAL Nov 24: Unidentified miscreants burgled a shop selling mobile phone handsets last night and made off with mobile phone handsets worth about Rs 7 lacs and Rs. 10,000 in cash.

The incident took pace at the high security area of Paona Bazar near Usha Cinema Hall and the burgled shop ‘Protect Mobile’ is owned by one Shriram Prashad, 55, of Mantripukhri.

According to the owner, he closed shop at around 7 pm last night and left for home. Prasad said he was informed about the robbery by shopowners in the vicinity of his shop.

Voicing complaints, Prashad stated that there security personnels were deployed in bazaar areas till the wee hours and it was unimaginable how robbers could break and enter the shop despite heavy padlocked doors of the shop and that there are next doors shops with resident owners.

He lamented that if such incidents could happen at the heart of Imphal, then there are no safe places in the city to carry out normal business safely.

  1. Where are the hyperactive IRB’s and Commando’s who stoll 24×7 ?? I guess their only duty is to terrorize peoples and take inept advantage of their power. What’s the use of keeping them if they can’t even guard a high security zone. Namesake cops!! lol
