IMPHAL, November 2: 12 MARATHA LI of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) provided materials for a pickle making unit to the locals of Uchiwa at Mayang Imphal. The project came soon after the success of a similar unit that was established by the Bn at Mayang Imphal, a few months back. CO, 12 Maratha Li handed over the materials for the project to the members of “Loktak Women Self-help Group”. Speaking on the occasion, Sumangal Singh the co-ordinator of the project said that the unit will go a long way in promoting self employment among the locals, especially the womenfolk. The unit will provide employment to a group of 15 local women in fish and local fruits pickle making and also help them establish themselves by supplying their items to a large manufacturing and packaging local companies.
