IMPHAL, Nov 9: The proscribe Peoples Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), in a statement, has said the outfit is observing November 12 as ‘Black Day’ and calls upon people to light torches exactly at 7pm on the day at every residential entrance gates in memory of those revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives.
A PREPAK statement issued by its publicity in-charge Aheiba Angom said the outfit has been observing November 12 as Black Day to remember the twin firing incidents of Kameng (12-11-1979) and Kabowakching sugar mill (12-11-1985), wherein cadres of the outfit and its leaders were killed.
Appealing general public to extend support and cooperation towards successfully observance of the Black Day, the outfit calls for halt of cinema screening at halls, entertaintment programme at BOAT, film premier show, charity show, staging of play and any forms of entertaintment on the day.
Recalling the Kameng incident of 12-11-1978, the PREPAK statement said two of its cadres namely Ayekpam Dhiren alias Angam of Sagolband Tera and Phurailatpam Kabikanta alias Leimu of Sagolband Meino Leirak were killed in during an attack carried out a combined team of Manipur and CRPF. One PLA who was staying together with the two Red Army at the tansit camp at Kameng was also slain during the encounter.
About the Kabowakching incident, the PREPAK recalls that its founder leader RK Tullachandra was killed during an attempt to overpower and took weapons from 7 MR post opened at Kabowakching Sugar mill on November 12, 1985.
The outfit and its armed wing Red Army have been observing November 12 as Black Day every year to commemorate those killed in the twin firing incidents occurred on the same day and month but in different years.
