IMPHAL, Nov 4: Uncertainty still prevails over the date of the visit of the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to inaugurate the three historic market complexes at Khwairamband bazar which are now nearing completion.
The chief minister had earlier during a public function said that the AICC president would be visiting the state for the official inauguration, but in the days that followed the IFCD & Youth affairs minsiter N Biren in a press briefing had said there was still uncertainty over the visit.
In the meantime, according to an official source following the official invitation to Sonia Gandhi, the state SPF government led by the chief minister O Ibobi Singh, and assisted by the state DGP Y Joykumar Singh who recently attended the all India National Task Force security arrangement meeting for DGPs and IGPs on October 26 at New Delhi chaired by the GK Pillai, Union Home Secretary, had urged the union Home Secretary to 20 Companies of the Central Paramilitary forces to meet the security requirement for the proposed visit of the AICC president this month.
The official source also further mentioned that, state police department as per the official directive from the state government has started drawing up a security plan.
The source said the state DGP has already proposed the deployment of 2000 armed civil police, 1500 home guards/ VDF, 1800 MR/IRB and 30 teams of state police commandos comprises of 6 personnel each.
As of now however the only indication that the AICC president would be visiting the state is that the DGP’s security preparations.
