Two markets in Bishenpur district inaugurated

IMPHAL, Nov 6: Two important markets of Bishnupur district, namely Moirang Thoibi Keithel and Awun Keithel were formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today.
Speaking at the inaugural function at Moirang INA Hall, the Chief Minister stated that the two markets have been constructed by Planning and Development Authority (PDA) at an estimated cost of Rs 5.27 crores since 2002-03.
He also said the state government has taken up necessary steps to clear the phumdis and train the personnel of Loktak Protection Force as a part of the protection and conservation project of the Loktak Lake.
Ibobi also stated that Rs 25 crores have been earmarked for the development of Moirang INA Complex as a tourist centre of international standards and the roads starting from Moirang Lamkhai to Imphal will also be widened in due course of time.
He further appealed to the people to extend all help and support to the government to implement various development projects of the state in time.
The chairman of PDA, Dr. Kh Loken lauded the Moirang Municipal Council for having accomplished the task of constructing the two important markets of Moirang and added the Council should take proper care of the maintenance of the markets.
The inaugural function was also attended by works minister K. Ranjit, MLA Prithiviraj, MLA T. Mangibabu, ex-MLA Salam Gopal and chairperson of Moirang Municipal Council, S. Jibanlata.
