Ukhrul police nab dozer thieves

UKHRUL, Nov. 16: The Ukhrul District Police under Ukhrul Police Station nabbed four persons who had stolen the parts of a dozer used by the CREF in cutting the new highway from Ukhrul Kharasom junction to Tolloi according to the Official source of the Ukhrul Police Station.

Police source said that the incident occurred on November 12 at around midnight when the gang came to the place and blind-folded two CREF laborers looking after the site.

Report of the incident came to Ukhrul Police Station came on the next day, it said.

On receiving the information the police immediately launched an operation hunting the robbers in and around areas and on November 15 the police finally nabbed four persons involved in the anti-social activity.

One is still absconding, the source said.

Police also recovered the stolen parts of the bull-dozer namely one pair of hydrolic jack and hydro tank, valued at more the one Rs. 1 lakh the source added.

The source further said that the arrested persons and the recovered goods are in the Ukhrul Police Station custody a case has been registered in the regard.

Police are still searching for the lone absconding miscreant, the source said.
