IMPHAL, Dec 2: Taking to greater heights its dedicated and untiring crusade to reach out to the people genuinely and share their moments of joy and sorrow together as well as continue its friendly approach to the local people, the 28 Assam Rifles Lilong post under the aegis of 9 Sector IGAR (south) organised a Path breaking Interface with the Meira Paibis and prominent local leaders of Lilong area at the 28 AR Lilong post this morning.

A statement of the AR said it was the first ever of its kind and drew a massive gathering. The event was planned taking into cognizance the indispensable and exemplary role the Meira Paibis and local leaders play in the society. Lilong AR post has always been in the forefront in the endeavor to promote peace, unity, progress and development of the area in all spheres of life. The personnel are continually making a concerted effort to strike a rapport with the local populace.

Colonel. Sanjeev Kumar, CO 28 AR graced the interface as the chief guest while prominent local leaders Md. Faizal Maorebi, Zilla Parishad, Lilong, Md. Liyaqat, Secy. Lilong Bazar, Tabo, Meira Paibi and ex Pradhan, Arapti were the guests of honour, the statement added.

It further said the AR officer had a heart to heart interaction with the warm-hearted a locals who sincerely voiced the major problems and difficulties they were facing and their hopes and expectations from 28 AR. The finer points of what is empowering the locals from all walks of life were laid clear for the local people to understand. The meet was an eventful step in the right direction to foster closer ties and develop faith and confidence between the AR and Lilong populace. The Lilong AR post played a constructive part in uniting the Meira Paibis and the local leaders by offering them a common platform to share their aims and visions and map out strategies to tackle the challenges ahead of them. The local populace of Lilong were deeply grateful to the 28 Assam Rifles for there heartfelt gesture of goodwill.
