Abducted PWD engineer released by captors

IMPHAL, Dec 7: The Assistant Engineer of the PWD who was reportedly abducted by the miscreants on December 4 has been set free by its captors safe and sound in the morning today.

The victim identified to be one N. Bimol, 50, s/o Samutombi of Keisamthong Elangbam Leirak Achouba. An Assistant Engineer of the PWD, NH-39 Div-II.

According to reports, the victim was set free by its abductor this morning around 7 am at Churachandpur Bus parking and later reached his home safe and sound at 10 am.

It is not clear enough who was behind the abduction as the victim decline to comment on it.

Reports said that as per disclosure of the victim he was abducted in front of his residence gate on December 4 around 11 am while he was leaving for work. Two youths coming on a two wheeler (DIO) asked him to accompany them for a talk in connection with contract under the department.

However on reaching Keishampat he was taken on a Maruti car which was already set up to whisk him away. He could recall that he was actually taken to Moirang side however he soon lost sense of direction and even though he could make it that he was taken to a hilly area, said the reports.

Reports further asserted that no harsh treatment was given to him and he was later released by their abductor after the name of some sub-contractor was collected from him.
