Accused in secretariat manhandling case apologises

IMPHAL, Dec 26: The recent case of manhandling a lady at the gate of New Secretariat (Ministers’ Block) by a male receptionist on December 22 has come to a compromise following an apology made by the accused to the victim.
Speaking to mediapersons at the office of All Manipur Student Guardians’ Organization, N. Chaoba stated that the accused identified as Salam Samananda Singh, son of (late) Heramot, of Thangmeiband Sana Keithel who is a staff of General Administrative Department (GAD) made an apology to the victim Konthoujam Geeta, daughter of (late) Udoi, of Konthoujam Maning Leikai on December 24 for the unfortunate incident that happened at the gate of New Secretariat while Geeta was asking for entry permission to Samananda who was the receptionist at the reception counter.
Along with making apology Samananda also agreed to bear all medical expenses Geeta for her hospitalization after the ugly incident, Chaoba noted.
He further appealed to all concerned to avoid such ugly incident in the future and preserve the dignity and respect of women in the state.
