IMPHAL, Dec 11: In order to maintain the atmosphere of peace and tranquility in Manipur, various ethnic communities residing in the state have a vital role to play said Chief Minister of Manipur, O Ibobi Singh, while addressing a gathering at the inaugural function of the Manipur Catholic Mission Congress, 2010.
The Chief Minister who graced the event as the chief guest inaugurated the Manipur Catholic Mission Congress, 2010 today at Chingmeirong Donbosco School ground.
In his chief guest speech, O Ibobi Singh characterize Manipur as a rich and colourful state and stressed the need to maintain peace and bring development.
The Chief Minister, appealed to the organizer to utilize the Catholic Mission Congress as a tool to spread peace across the state by organizing similar events in the entire district of the state.
The Chief Minister further asserted that Manipur government has been doing its best level in delivering basic rights of the people irrespective of caste, creed or religions and added that the government believes in secularism.
Stating that Manipur is gradually upgrading health sector infrastructure and manpower in remote areas of the hill districts, the Chief Minister.
He further said said the state government is taking up various developmental projects, programme under the Autonomous District Council and also declared that the government has recruited enough teachers to meet the shortage of school teachers in the hill districts.
The inaugural function was presided by Arch Bishop, Rev. Dominic Lumon apart from state IPR, PHED and Tourism, minister TN. Haokip, Tribal Development, minister DD. Thaisii, MPCC president Gaikhangam and former education minister, Francis Ngajokpa.
