IMPHAL, Dec 10: Speaking on the sideline of the inaugural function of Tengnoupal Block Congress Committee office cum the Felicitation ceremony of S Tongpao Mate, executive member ADC & secy, ADC Chandel, MPCC Gaikhangam said the MPCC while observing a year long 125th year anniversary of the Congress Party since December 28, 2010 has been organizing various platforms like seminars, workshops and interaction programmes to discuss the past foundation, present achievement and the future vision of the Congress which in turn is directly related to the development of the state.
He has further maintained that the Indian National Congress is not only one of the oldest political parties of the Nation but without any doubt it is also one amongst the biggest and strongest political parties in the nation.
Thanking God and the people of the country for making the INC the biggest and the strongest political parties in the country, he further apprised that year long celebration from December 28, 2010 to December 28, 2011 has been termed as ‘Year of Celebration’.
As a part of acquiring the main vision of the party and further strengthening of the Indian National Congress in the state, various seminars, workshops and interaction programmes were conducted at numerous places throughout the state in both the hill and the valley districts.
Calling the INC as a non bias political party, and without communal or religious biasness which is against the provision of the Congress party, he further maintained that the party has been working for the welfare of the downtrodden in the country without any discrimination and racial or any kinds of biasness.
He has also maintained that the party believes in parliamentary democracy and secularism.
He has also declared that leaders may come and go in the party but the party will always remain strong in the country as the party enjoys tremendous support from the people and further added that Manipur will be safe and development will be brought to the state as long as Congress remains in power.
He also maintained that the meeting convened yesterday including the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Pradesh Election Committee and himself regarding the issue of the ensuing Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council election scheduled for January 3, 2011 have screened half of the applicants for Party tickets and the screening of the remaining half will be done tomorrow and will declare the screening results on a auspicious day before the last date of the nomination filling.
Today’s Inaugural function of Tengnoupal Block Congress Committee office cum the Felicitation ceremony of S Tongpao Mate, executive member ADC & secy, ADC Chandel was attended by DK Korungthang, ex minister, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (in Charge) Mahila, Ngamthang Haokip, ex minister, Lhukhosei Zou, chairman ADC Chandel, all executive members of ADC, Chandel and Bidyapati Senjam, general secretary/adm.
S Tongpao Mate, executive member ADC & secy, ADC Chandel along with his family members presented gifts to the attending VIPs and various invitees present.
