Contraband Ganja Seized

    IMPHAL, December 4: 11 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield Division recovered 850 Kg of Ganja from Longphailum village in Tamenglong District on 2 Dec 10. At about 1.10hr on 2 Dec 2010 during an area domination patrol, 11 Assam Rifles while approaching Longphailum village, observed suspicious move of civilians in the jungles near the village.

    On seeing the security forces, these suspected civilians tried to flee towards the dense jungle. One suspected was nabbed by the security forces who revealed that he was hiding a consignment of Ganja in the jungles after hearing the news of security forces in the nearby area. On carrying out detailed search, the troops recovered 850 Kg of Ganja costing approximately 30 lacs hidden in the jungles near Longphailum village. This recovery is a huge setback for drug mafias operating in remote areas of Longpi and Longphailum, Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) has said in a release.
