COPTAM calls general strike

Lamaka Dec 4: The Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur, CoPTAM has called a 60 hours general strike in all the hill district of the state starting from 5 pm of December 7 protesting against what they called exploitation and illtreatment of tribal.

The CoPTAM has said that they repect integrity of the state yet accused the state government of taking an undue advantage of this obeisance by not respecting their land and rights.

Asserting they are bonafide citizen of the state, the CoPTAM said most of their demands were sidelined and state government is adamant to conclude an honourable settlement.

Calling one and all to extend support and cooperation in the proposed bandh CoPTAM said media, medical and schools shall be relaxed from the purview of the strike while instructing students to wear uniform, admit cards/ identity card.
