IMPHAL, Dec 17: The Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) under the guidance of All India Primary Teachers’ Federation (AIPTF) has made a formal complaint to the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Kapil Sibal, regarding non-implementation of revised 6th central pay for the government school teachers despite of memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and representatives of the COTA.
A release of COTA stated that the complaint has been made to the Union HRD Minister following apathy of the state government towards the welfare of the teachers. The state government has violated the terms and conditions of the MoU by not implementing the revised 6th pay. The state government should try to upkeep the right to education by fulfilling the legitimate demands of the teachers, it said.
Meanwhile, the relay hunger strike launched by COTA demanding the implementation of revised 6th pay has reached 12 days today and the government school teachers under the aegis of COTA have also decided not to take their pay and arrears until the demands are fulfilled by the government.
