COTA relay hunger strike enters 22nd days

IMPHAL, Dec 27: The ongoing relay hunger strike of the Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) demanding in toto implementation of sixth Revised Central pay in the state has entered 22 days today.
The volunteers of the COTA have staged their relay hunger strike at the office complex of Moirang DI participated by the teachers of primary to Higher secondary level of the Bishnupur district today.
According to release of the COTA, mentioned that Ministry of Finance government of India with an objective to improve Human Resource Development sector in the country ordered for the implementation of sixth Revised central pay all over the state country from 2006, but in the state of Manipur despite of signing MOU between the state government for the implementation of the same, state government is still fails to comply the MOU, and the COTA will continue their line of agitations until their demands are fulfill by the state government and as part of continuation of their relay hunger strike, the similar agitation will be organized at the office complex of ZEO Thoubal on December 28 and ZEO office complex Kakching, the release added.
TADC calls for intensification of construction work on NH 53
IMPHAL, Dec 27: Transporter and Drivers’ Council has drawn the attentions of the BRTF authorities for the intensification of the road construction works along the existing National High Way 53, Imphal-Jiribam road in order to complete all possible construction works along this high ways before the rainy season.
The release of the council further mentioned that, there is apprehension that the ongoing slow progress of works by the BRTF in maintaining the Imphal-Jiribam National High way-53 will not meet the expectation of the people of the state to complete entire constructions of the road before the rainy reason.
The release further reminded the assurance that have kept by the authorities of BRTF to complete the construction of this National highway during February next and requested to kept the very commitment by the BRTF authorities considering the inconveniences which still facing by the transporters of the state and other general public caused by the bad conditions of this road.
It has also appealed the BRTF authorities to make accessible the bridge at Leingangpokpi which was recently completed its construction to the common people so as to ease the inconveniences faced by the transporters at this portions of the road at present, the release added.
