COTA temporally suspend cease work strike, relay hunger strike to continue

IMPHAL, Dec 15: The ongoing cease work strike of the Councils of Teachers’ Association, (COTA), has been temporally suspended till a proposed meeting with the chief minister O Ibobi Singh to discuss on the demands of the association for the implementation of the 6th Central Revised Pay in the state which is scheduled to held on January 4 next year.
The decision of the suspension of the cease strike was taken during an emergency general body meeting of COTA which was held today at Johnstone Higher Secondary school attended by representatives of different student organizations, leaders of civil society organizations.
In the meantime, as per official announcement made by the COTA, the general body meeting of the COTA was convened this morning at John Stone Higher Secondary school and the meeting elaborately discussed over the time frame for the having final discussion with the association representatives which is scheduled to held on January 4 next year. The COTA during its general body meeting have decided to suspend their cease work strike of the teachers till January 4 next year.
The GB meeting of the teachers body while appreciating the positive responses from the state government, decided to resume normal activities of the government teachers simultaneously with staging relay hunger strike at John Stone Higher Secondary school till December 23 this month. The strike will be followed with zonal wide relay hunger strike with effect from december 24 till January 4 next year until their demands are fulfilled by the state government.
