End in sight to teachers cease work strike

IMPHAL, Dec 14: The agitaing teacheers body, COTA will be convening an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss government’s proposal to end the ongoing cease work strike of the teachers.

The COTA meeting comes in the aftermath of responses from the state government which invited representatives of Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) to hold a meeting with the government to bring an end to the teacher’s strike.

A meeting held with the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at his official bungalow recently discussed the matter relating demands of the teacher – in toto implementation of 6th Central Revised Pay.

S Gunamani Singh, convenor publicity COTA during an interaction with the mediaperson mentioned that suggestions and complaints that have been put before the association by intellectual circles, guardians and representative of the students organizations of the state in connection with the ongoing cease work agitations of COTA which caused serious impact to academic atmosphere of the government schools in both hills and valley districts were seriously noted by the teachers body and there is possibility of arriving at a positive outcome in tomorrow’s meeting.

He further mentioned that, the proposed general body meeting of the COTA to held tomorrow at John Stone Higher Secondary School will definitely bring new face of ongoing cease work stir.
