Ester crowned Ngashan Phanit beauty queen

UKHRUL, Dec 16: Miss Ester Tungshang of Langdang Village walked away with the title of “Miss Ato Longphang” (Northern Council) in the beauty contest held yesterday night as part of the “Ngashan Phanit” festival (Tangkhul Northern Council Cultural Festival) being held at Ukhrul Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) ground.

The festival kick off on December 13 and it will culminate tomorrow.

The 1st and 2nd runner-up in the belle pageant were bagged by Miss K Lucy of Hundung Village and Miss Rita Marza of Chingjaroi.

The three beauties were richer by Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

The belle contestants were judged on the certain laid down rules and conditions by the Organizing Committee like looks, dresses, character, smile, walking movements etc.

The Judges in the beauty pageant were Amstrong Pamei, IAS, AC. Ukhrul, Soso Shaiza, principal, Little Angel English Hr. Sec. School, L Pamreingam, OC. Phungyar and Thingreiphi Kazingmei, programme co-ordinator, IFAD who strictly maintained the terms and conditions in setting the markings to all the eight belle contestants in the fray.

The judges judged the belle contestants as per the terms and condition in three rounds of walking on the ramp.

The first ramp in pure traditional attire signifying the situation women in olden days (yesteryears), the second round was performed reflecting the present women culture (today) and the contestants on the third ramp displayed the style of the future (tomorrow).

Some of the interesting events occurred during the question hours by the concern judges such as MR. Amstrong Pamei, IAS. AC Ukhrul asked the contestant No. 7 to whom to choose among Priyanka Chopra and Mother Teresa and why? You are indeed beautiful. Define how deep beautiful things you have ? was asked by Madam Soso Shaiza to contestant No.4.
