Five UGs, 2 OG workers arrested by govt. forces

IMPHAL, Dec 11: Altogether five cadres and two overground workers belonging to separate militant organizations were apprehended by security forces during separate counter insurgency operations conducted in different parts of the state during the past two days.
In the first incident, a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and a column of BSF arrested one cadre of under ground PULF identified as Md. Samir, 23, son of late Md Salim of Hatta Makha Leikai from Checkon area this morning around 7 am.
According to an official statement of SP Imphal East, security forces have able to recover two boxes of SP Tablet-240 numbers and two strips of Nitrosum-10 tablets 70 numbers from his possession.
It said that the arrested person disclosed that he is an active member of the PULF and supplied narcotic drugs for PULF cadres, the official release added.
In another incident, another team of Imphal East district police commandos apprehended one cadre of the underground UPPK identified as Moirangthem Loyalakpa Meitei alias Bomcha, 34, son of M Lukhoi Meitei of Khurai Thangjam Leikai from Khurai Lamlong areas this morning around 8am.
A police release said the arrested person disclosed he joined the outfit in the month of November 2010 through one Sanjeev alias Abung of UPPK and now working under the command of Sanjeev alias Abung. Further, he also disclosed to the police that he was involved in extortion of money from general public, government offices like IFCD Deptt. Industry Deptt. etc in the name of UPPK, the police release added.
In yet another incident, a team of Imphal West district police commandos arrested one cadre of proscribed PREPAK from Thangal Bazar yesterday evening around 4.10 pm.
The arrested person was identified as Takhellambam Nepolian alias Naocha, 31, son of T Tomcha Singh of Keirao Lamdung Makha Leikai, a project nominee of the underground PREPAK.
According to a release of Senior SP Imphal West, during preliminary interrogation, the arrested cadre disclosed that he was assigned to extort money from government/private schools, government departments under the instruction of one Takhellambam Ibomcha alias England, 24 of PREPAK. He further disclosed to the police that he was involved in kidnapping of one Dolan, the official release added.
On the other hand, troops of 33 Assam Rifles Logtak Brigade under Red Shield Division arrested two over ground workers of KCP (MC) from Wangu Parking today. The arrested individuals were identified as Yumnam Ibocha Singh (51), son of Late Lelamani Singh, resident of Wangu Sadangkhong, Bishnupur and Budha Singh (30), son of Joy Chandra Singh, resident of Ithai, Bishnupur district.
A statement of the PIB Defense Wing said the apprehended overground workers accepted their involvement in extortion related activities in and around Bishnupur district. It said the operation was carried out based on specific information about the presence of overground workers and extortion activities carried out by them in Wangoo village and surrounding areas. The apprehendees were handed over to Kumbi Police Station, the release added.
Another statement issued by the PRO IGAR (S) claimed that two militant cadres were arrested today. It said that discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area Chingmeirong and Pangei, troops of 23 AR and 39 under HQ IGAR (S) launched joint operation in the areas and apprehended one MNFR and one PLA militant from the area in between 12:30 and 2:30 am today.
The arrested individual were identified as Ashok Shinglai, 34, s/o Nganligphung Shinglai of Kasom Khullen, Yairipok a MNRF cadre and Usam Romon alias Nanao alias Renjit, 35, s/o Samungou Singh, Pangei Bazar a cadre of the proscribed PLA. It said that both the cadre has been handed over to the Porompat Police station.
