IMPHAL, Dec 4: The age of retirement of state government employees has been extended for another one year from 59 years to 60 years and the age of retirement for the college teachers to 62 years.
In this connection, separate orders were issued by the department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, government of Manipur recently.
In a separate order issued by the Additional Secy. DP government of Manipur, in exercise of the power conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India, the state government is adopted with immediate effect the proviso of FR 56(a) in the state government as reproduced as except as otherwise provided as per the rules, every government servant shall retire from service on the afternoon of the last day of the month in which he/she attain the age sixty years. In other words, the age of retirement of the state government employees on superannuation is raise from the existing 59 years to 60 years, the official order added.
On the other hand, in a separate order issued by the KC Laishram under Secy. DP, government of Manipur, the age of retirement of the college teachers has also been extended to 62 years.
The official order further mentioned that, the matter relating to raising the age of retirement of the teachers of the state government colleges, Manipur from the existing 60 years has been under consideration of the state government for quite sometime in the past.
The official order further mentioned that, after careful consideration of all relevant UGC guidelines regarding the service conditions of college teachers and also with the approval of the council of ministers in its meeting held on November 4 last month, it has been decided by the state government that the age of retirement of the teachers of the state government college, Manipur on superannuation shall be 62 years.
Further the official order of the DP has directed Higher and Technical Education Department, Manipur accordingly, the official order added.
