Heavy security deployed for Winter session of Assembly

IMPHAL, Dec 21: Heavy security preventive measures have been taken up in an around the Assembly Secretariat since this evening to prevent any untoward incident ahead of the nine session (Winter Session) of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly which will commence from 11 am tomorrow.
According to an official source, the deployment of heavy security forces of MR, IRB and Manipur police at various strategic points surrounding the Assembly Secretariat have started from this evening and there will be intensifications of security deployment by detailing the additional police personnel of existing police stations, police outposts located at both Imphal West and Imphal East districts during the session and there will also be engagement of mobile police commandos team in the city bazaar areas to prevent any disturbances from any anti social elements during the session.
In the meantime, Assembly secretariat has completed internal seat arrangement for the ensuing two days winter session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly which is commencing from 11 am tomorrow.
On the other hand as per scheduled fixed by the recent meeting of the Business Advisory Committee meeting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly there will be obituary reference on the passing away of Sinam Bijoy Singh, former member of the Manipur Territorial Council, Dr Sapam Budhichandra Singh, former speaker of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly, Songchinkhup, former chairman of the Hill Areas Committee, Z Mangaibou, former deputy speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
 
Furthermore a calling attention motion from opposition party, presentation of Committee report by the chief minister and presentations of the report of the pay committee will be the main businesses on the first day of the session tomorrow, the official source added.
In the meantime, in view of the ensuing Assembly session an official memorandum has been circulated by the secretary Manipur Legislative Assembly directing all officers and staffs of the Assembly secretariat to attend the office at 9am on every working days and remain in office till the end of the day’s session.
