IMPHAL, Dec 10: District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Sangaiporou in a directive passed yesterday have ordered ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Corporation to award a sum of Rs 7 lacs to the next of kin of a demised policy holder after taking up the matter at court.
One Gurumayum Jaideep , a resident of palace compound passed away on Feb 16 ,2009. The said individual had already paid a premium of Rs 1 lac to ICICI for the Smart Kid New Premium scheme at a sum insured at Rs 9 lacs , after the insured person passed away due to heart stroke ,ICICI refused to pay the insured sum on grounds of suppression of material information especially regarding health problems by the policy holder.
The matter was taken to court by the wife of the deceased and the matter was taken up in court yesterday , the court ordered ICICI to pay a sum of Rs 7 lacs to the policy holder along with a litigation fees of Rs 5000. The said case is registered under complaint 17 of 2010.
