JAC against Baite killing defers bandh

IMPHAL, Dec 8: The JAC against the killing of Ngamkholet Baite along with KSO, ZSF and Zillai in its joint meeting at Lamphel, Imphal have decided to temporarily suspended its proposed all Manipur Indefenite Bandh to be commence from December 9, as a written Assurance from Chief Minister of Ibobi Singh to fulfill on the charter of demands and also in view of the numerous appeals made by social and religious organization in connection with the gospel centenary and Christmas eve programme.

The JAC expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Power minister Phungzathang Tonsing, MLA T. Manga Vaiphei and Thangkholun Haokip Chandel MLA Chandel A/C for their initiative in negotiating with the Government. The JAC also expressed its gratitude to the Students and Civil Organisation namely Zillai, KSO,ZSF, CDSU etc fro their unconditional supports.

The JAC further appealed to all the UG groups to stop senseless killing innocent civilians and branding someone with something after the killing without a warning.

It may be recalled that Baite, Village chief of Moljol was shot death in front of his wife on the evening of November 24 at Chahmol hills about 25 km south from the Chakpikarong police station around 4:30 pm when the victim was returning home with his wife after attending their field located near Tuipijang village.

Later the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) owned the killing stating that he was an advisor of a newly floated outfit KNLF.
