Motorcycle rally marks gender campaign launch

IMPHAL, Dec 5: As part of  International Fortnight observation on Violation against women and girls, Women Action for Development organized a Motor Cycle Rally cum awareness campaign in Imphal city today.
The motor cycle rally was flagged off by the Telegraph Imphal correspondant Khellen Thokchom from the Palace compound near the Boat, Hapta Kangjeibung, this morning and around 200 participants took part in the rally which covered the areas of  Nongmeibung road, Porompat road, Khurai Lamlong, Popular School, Heikrumakhong, Salan Thong, Lamlong Thong, Khunou, Donbosco road, Sangakpham, Chingmeirong, North AOC, Hatta, New checkon and back to the starting place at the Palace compound (BOAT).
While speaking to the IFP, a participant Laimayum Abecha a 23 years old women who had lost her husband early, said that, it is a big opportunity for her to participate in such a campaign which enlighten the spirit of courage for an unfortunate woman like her.
She further revealed that as a women of the nation we are raising our voice to empower the nation of the women world.
Past is past but appeal to all women’s of the world to raise their voice to safeguard and to save the future of our children, specially girls and a women. Lets come together and work as one for all, said  Abecha.
During the motorcycle rally today the participants hold placards carrying slogans like, stop violence against women and girls, stop child traffickings and let us eliminate violence activities etc.
