Nursing school fears possibility of losing a year

IMPHAL, Dec 23: The students and guardians of S. Kumar Institute of Nursing, Porompat have expressed apprehension of losing their academic career owing to the controversies raised by the managing director of the institute Yumnam Surjit Kumar alias S. Kumar who has been reportedly kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club, one of the representatives of students and guardians of the institute, Lairenlakpam Sundar stated that the students and guardians cannot trust the statement of the family members of S. Kumar who said he has been kidnapped by some unknown persons. There is now an apprehension of losing the academic career of the students owing to the negligence of the management committee of the nursing institute, he noted.
The founder Yumnam Engba and chairman Yumnamcha Dilipkumar who is also the president of United Committee Manipur (UCM) have failed to redress the grievances of the students who have not appeared the examination, Sundar said.
Yumnamcha Dilipkumar has duped the students saying that S. Kumar Institute of Nursing has been recognized by Manipur State Nursing Council but on enquiry the guardians found out that it is not recognized by the Nursing Council, he stated.
The students and guardians further appealed to the concerned organization to make clarification if S. Kumar has been kidnapped by any organization and if not then the social organizations of the state should render help to bring out truth in the whole controversy.
