One dead, 3 injured in Noney mishap

IMPHAL, Dec 26: A driver of a goods laden truck died while leaving three others including a handyman injured when the truck he was riding fell into a deep gorge at Awang Khul village under Noneh police station along the National High-53 Imphal-Jiribam road yesterday evening at around 8.30 pm.
According to an official source, the accident occurred while the ill fated truck carrying a truckload of PDS items meant for the Food Corporation of India (FCI) meant for the state was heading towards Imphal along NH-53 from Jiribam yesterday.
The truck suddenly slipped down a deep gorge, which was more than 300 meters deep at Awang Khul resulting in the death of the driver of the truck, who has been identified as Yumlembam Ingo Singh, 25, son of Y Tolpishak of Khonghampat Awang Leikai, he reportedly died at the spot while the rest of the occupants of the truck numbering three including the handyman were also injured and further given treatment at a nearby Public Health sub centre, the source added.
