IMPHAL, Dec 5: The Organizing committee of the 7th State Level Orange Festival 2010, Tamenglong welcomed everyone to the festival which will be held on 11 and 12 December 2010 at Mini Stadium Tamenglong with great pomp and show.
The festival will be graced by Okram Ibobi Singh, CM Manipur and Horticulture Minister Phungzathang Tonsing as the Chief Guest and function president while Gaikhangam President MPCC, Khangthuanang Panmei Vice Chairman Hill Areas Committee, MLA and N Awangbou MLA Tamei AC as the Guests of Honor respectively.
According to the statement issued by Ramkung Pamei Convener Media & Publicity Committee of the 7th State Level Orange Festival 2010 Tamenglong, Special features of the state level tourism festival held annually would be- Best Orange Competition, Orange Queen Contest, Seminar for Orange growers, entertainment from actors, actresses and renown singers and artistes of Manipur.
A cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75, 000 and Rs. 50,000 would be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of Best Orange Competition and the same amount to the Queen, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up Orange queen contest. There are 5 more sub- titles for the queen contest with Rs. 10,000 each. Screening of contestants for the queen contest will be held on 6 December at Hotel Yaisna MG Avenue Imphal at 10 am and the so selected contestants will leave Imphal for Tamenglong on 10 December 2010.
The statement further mentioned that, the first day of the festival, 11 December will see best orange competition, craft exhibition and seminar for the orange growers while speeches from the guests, performances of various artistes and queen contest on the second and final day of the celebration. Meanwhile, it has express their heartfelt thanks to the COPTAM for lifting their 60 Hours bandh and has further appealed to all individuals and organizations not to call any bandh or blockade during the festival period and to extend all- out cooperation to make the festival a grand success.
