P Chidambaram most likely to visit state on December 14

IMPHAL, Dec 11: The Union Minister of Home, P Chidambaram is likely to visit the state capital on December 14 afternoon to take stock of the prevailing law and order situation in the state and related issues.
According to a highly placed source, state government has already prepared a tentative programmes for the proposed visit of the Union Home Minister.
As per this tentative programme, the Union Home Minister will arrive in Imphal Airport at 2.30pm on a special flight of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The Union Home Minister  will attend a meeting to be held at the Raj Bhavan Imphal in the same evening with the Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and discuss various issues of the state relating to the prevailing law and order situation as well as other issues of the state which are very much related with the law and order problems.
The official source further mentioned that the proposed meeting with the Union Home Minister will also review the detailed status reports on irregularities in supply of PDS items and the existing hardships felt by the people of the state due to the artificial scarcity of petroleum products like, Petrol, Diesel and kerosene oil in the state since last many months.
The official source further mentioned that the Union Home Minister will halt at the Raj Bhavan and will have interactions with the NGOs and civil society organizations to take commends and suggestions for the rectifications of existing problems in every aspects of public welfare activities taken up by the state government in the state.
In the meantime, in view of the proposed visit of Union Home Minister on December 14 to the state capital, the Combined Head Quarter (CHQ) meeting was convened on December 9 evening chaired by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at his official chamber to chalked out security preventive measures.
The CHQ meeting was attended by various high level officers from the Army, Assam Rifles, Paramilitary forces and officers of the state civil police led by the DGP, the official source added.
