Plea for PAP discontinuance submitted to Union home minister

New Delhi, Dec 30: Global Petition for Removal of Protected Area Permit from Manipur has submitted their petition to the Union Home Minister P Chidabaram at New Delhi yesterday by a joint delegate of Manipuri Association of Canada and Local Support Group on Removal of PAP.
The joint delegation was led by Phalguni Sougaijam secy. Manipuri Association of Canada executive committee and its convenor and R. K. Shivachandra.
The member team of the state delegation included members of Local Support Group Ratan Luwangcha, co-convenor, Khelen Thokchom, Rinku Khumukcham and Naocha Sharma and assisted and supported by the Lok Sabha MP Dr. Thokchom Meinya and Joint Director, Manipur Information Centre, New Delhi Meghachandra Kongbam while preparing for the submission of the petition to the union Home Minister yesterday at New Delhi.
In the meantime in their written petition submitted to the Union Home Minister which contains 1025 signatures from 75 countries and also includes the comments given by the signatory persons in support of lifting of the PAP from the state.
On the other hand the union Home minister P. Chidambaram, due to his official scheduled of attending a Central meeting on the formation of Telangana state was unable to meet the delegates from the state. Besides the delegations from the state were making their serious efforts to meet the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at present
with the support from MP Meinya.
Meanwhile a green signal has been given by the Prime Minister’s office to the delegates regarding appointment to meet with Prime Minister in the near future.
The two member executive committee of Manipuri Association of Canada led secretary Dr. Phalguni Sougaijam had arrived at New Delhi on the night of December 28 from Canada. Later before going to union Home ministry office the Local Support Group, Manipuri Association of Canada held a discussion with Manipuri students at Delhi and other Manipuris and gave acknowledgement on the existing steps of online signature campaign and share the views on future line of action of the existing campaigns.
