IMPHAL, Dec 19: In view of the looting of FCI trucks at Noney on December 14, security has been beefed up at Noney by setting up an additional security post and patrolling at market area round the clock.
According to a release of the PIB, strict instructions have been issued to 26 Assam Rifles to take prompt action against any such offenders.
It further stated on December 14, NSCN (IM) forcefully stopped six FCI trucks carrying essential commodities and emptied the contents.  It warned if the NSCN (IM) repeat such an act in future strict action will be taken against them.

As reported by a local daily on 17 Dec 2010 in its article “ NSCN (M) dons masks of innocence” in that Mr Alung Rongmei of NSCN (IM) made a statement that seized items (231 bags of rice and 60 bags of cement) were handed over by them to 26 Assam Rifles is false and baseless.
In fact, it is 26 Assam Rifles during its search operation on Dec 15 which found rice and cement bags stolen by NSCN(IM) hidden in a ware house in Noney market and reported the matter to concerned authorities, it added.  Such illegal acts will not be tolerated it added.
