IMPHAL, Dec 17: The proscribed UNLF, in a statement, has claimed that at least six personnels of the 36 Assam Rifles sustained injuries when a patrol party of the government force was attacked by a team of MPA in a spot between Tuitang and Sehlon village in the interior area of Chandel district yesterday morning around 9.30am.
A UNLF statement issued by its senior publicity   officer Ksh Yoiheiba said yesterday’s attack was a fitting response given to to the visit of Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram’s visit to Manipur.
The UNLF statement maintained that the root cause of the Manipur-India conflict is India’s forcibly occupation of Manipur in 1949 and all of the Indian politician who visited Manipur including P Chidambaram knowingly concealed this.
If India truely wanted to bring a conclusion to the Manipur-India conclift, Government of India should agree to hold UNLF’s proposal for a ‘Plebiscite’ involving the people of Manipur, the UNLF asserted and vowed to fight till the end if India continue to use its military might to sideline Manipur peoples aspiration for self determination.
