IMPHAL, Dec 9: In continuation of Remote Village Electrification programme, MANIREDA forty two solar Home lighting systems and seven solar street lighting systems were distributed to villagers of Tatjang Village, Tengnoupal Block, Chandel District, on December 5.
The solar lighting systems were distributed to the villagers in a function organized at the S.D.O. office, Tengnoupal, attended by H. Imocha Singh, IAS, Commissioner (S&T) Govt. of Manipur cum member secretary /MANIREDA, H. Dileep Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Chandel, L. Manglem Singh, Director, MANIREDA, Darsinso, S.D.O. Tengnoupal, A. Tomba Singh, O.C. Tengnoupal Police Station, chief of Tengnoupal and other dignitaries, officials etc.
Speaking on the occasion H Imocha Singh, Member Secretary, MANIREDA emphasized on the need for proper maintenance of the lighting systems by the beneficiaries for optimum and long term performance.
Dileep Singh, D.C. highlighted various development activities of the Government in Chandel District and particularly solar light electrification activities of MANIREDA in interior and remote villages including villages in the Kengjoi Block. Manglem Singh, Director, MANIREDA, stated that beneficiary villages for solar lighting electrification was selected on the basis of backwardness and difficultness of the village and not on the basis of individual beneficiary, as such it is important on the part of the beneficiaries to ensure the solar lighting systems issued be installed in the beneficiary village only.
Paokhothang Baite, Chief of Tatjang village, expresses his utmost gratitude to MANIREDA, for the solar lamps which will bring significant development and comfort in the life of the villagers.
The Officials further inspected sites for upcoming wind-solar hybrid project at Tengnoupal. Latter the team also inspected the Moreh Sub-district Hospital for installation of solar power plant and installation of solar street lighting systems in Moreh town area by MANIREDA, a press released director L Manglem Singhs stated.
