IMPHAL, Dec 21: Security forces arrested at least three militant cadre and four sympathizers including two women in separate Counter Insurgency operations conducted at different places.
According to a release of SSP Thoubal Clay Khongsai, a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and personnel of 28 AR apprehended one cadre of KCP (Noyon faction) identified as Uirkhinbam Mohindro Singh alias Maiba, 49, son of late U Mangi Singh of Arapti Awang Leikai yesterday morning around 4 am during the joint operation conducted in the general area of Lilong bazaar.
The release further mentioned that, one Chinese hand grenade with detonator and two demand letters of KCP (Noyon faction) were recovered from his possession, and on questioning the arrested person disclosed that he is an active member of KCP (Noyon Faction) and working in Finance section of the organization.
In yet another incident two women sympathizers of the underground KCP (MC) identified as Khangembam Ongbi Achoubi Devi, 55, wife of late Kh. Lamphel Singh of Kumbi Bazar Leikai and Potsangbam Ongbi Hariton, 61, wife of late P Ibomcha Singh of Naodangkhong Awang Leikai were arrested by the combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and personnel of 28 Assam rifles during frisking and checking at Wangoo Laipham area yesterday afternoon around 2.30pm.
During preliminary questioning they disclosed that they are over ground workers of the KCP(MC) and further added to be working under the command of one Nongdrenkhomba Khuman of the outfit, the release added.
Further, another team of Thoubal district police commandos apprehended one cadre of under ground KYKL identified as Thoudam Ibungo Singh alias Ingocha, 46, son of Th Megha of Thoudam Maning Leikai Turel Mapal during frisking and checking at Leishangthem bazaar this morning at around 10 am, the release added.
A combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and 116 BSF Bravo company claimed to have arrested an active member of NSCN(K) from near the waiting shed of Lamsang Taothong Khunou on December 20 at about 9 am.
A statement released by the SSP Imphal West, has identified the individual as one Pamei Paukhonlung alias Nishan, 39, s/o (L) Haize Pamei of Lamdeng Khunou Lainingkhul.
It said that on spot verification, he disclosed that he joined the said organization in the month of May, 1993 throuhg one Lt. Col. Mansi Kamei of NSCN-K from Lainingkhul.
The individual further disclosed that he got basic military training at Burma and his rank is 2 Lt. under batched No.2 with army No. 9862. one demand letter of NSCN-K was also seized from his possession said the statement.
In yet another incident, the Imphal West district police commandos arrested two sympathizer of the proscribed KCP (MC) from Chajing Karam yesterday about 3:30pm.
The concerned SSP in a statement identified the individuals as one Wangkhem Jadu Singh, 62, s/o (L) W. Khomdomcha Singh of Chajing Karam Awang Leikai and Paonam Budhachandra Singh, 60, s/o (L) P. Chaoba Singh of Chajing Karam Makha Leikai.
It said that on spot verification the individuals disclosed that they were assigned to extort money from the candidates of the ensuing Nagar Panchayat Election of Chajing Karam for Party fund.
