Troops arrest four including one woman underground activist

IMPHAL, Dec 7: Security forces have arrested four cadres including a woman cadre of militant groups from separate counter insurgency operations from the state since yesterday.

According to a PRO release, troops of 17 AR of Sector 10 under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in the general area of Namrei of Ukhrul district on discovering the presence of UG cadres in the area and apprehended one active cadre of NNW (PSG) at around 2:55 am today.

It has also identified the arrested cadre as Changeson Lungling, 22, s/o Suiza Lungling resident of Namrei, Ukhrul.

One 9mm pistol and 2 live rounds of 9mm pistol were recovered from the possession of the arrested person. The arrested cadre along with the recovered items were handed over to the Porompat Police Station, added the release.

Meanwhile according to a release of the SP Imphal East district a team of CDO/ Imphal East had arrested three KCP (MC) cadres from near Kusum Oil Pump yesterday evening at around 4:30 pm.

It has further identified the three arrested cadres including a woman cadre as Laishram Diren Singh, 27, son of L Shyambondu Singh of Khangabok Bazar Part III, Salam Geeta Devi, 30, d/o (L) S Nongthomba Singh of Laphupat Tera Khunou and Md Abdul Wahid Khan alias Awas, 20, s/o (L) Md Abdul Khalique of Kwakta tera Khong ward no II.

On verification, the arrested cadres had identified themselves as active members of KCP (MC) (Malem Nganba Meetei) and were involved in extortion of money from the general public, government officials, businessmen etc.

Furthermore they had also disclosed to be working under the command of one Nando of Khangabok Part III of the proscribed KCP (MC), added the release.
