IMPHAL, Dec 26: At least two cadres belonging to separate under ground groups were apprehended by the security forces since the last two days from different places.
A combine team of Thoubal district police commandos and personnel of 28 AR apprehended one cadre of the underground outfit UNLF identified as Chirom Jiten Singh alias Chingthang Singh, 32, son of Ch Jugeshwor Singh of Thongju Part-II Pheija Leitong yesterday morning around 8 am during routine frisking and checking at Tangjeng.
According to an official release, on further questioning, the arrested person disclosed that he is an active member of the proscribed UNLF and to be working in the finance section of the outfit.
In yet another incident, another team of Thoubal district police commandos apprehended one cadre of PREPAK (VC) identified as Ningthoujam Indrajit Singh, 41, s/o N Thenjao Singh of Laphupat Tera Ningolthong during a search operation conducted at Khoidumpat area on December 24 night around 10.45 pm. One 9mm pistol with one magazine loaded with four live rounds was recovered from his possession by the police.
According to the police, the arrested person was confirmed during the preliminary questioning that he is an active member of the underground PREPAK (VC).
