IMPHAL, Dec 5: Two underground cadres were arrested in seperate counter insurgency operations since yesterday. A combined team of the Imphal West District Police Commandos and a column of 39 Assam Rifles arrested one active member of the proscribed KCP (MC) Lamyanba Khuram Faction from Thangmeiband Lilashing Khongnangkhong.
According to a statement of the SSP, Imphal West, L. Kailun, the militant member was arrested on December 5 at about 5:30 pm acting on credible information.
The individual is identified as one Ningthoujam Maimu Singh, 40, s/o N. Tomba Singh of Phayeng Kharang Khunou, Lamsang.
It further said that on spot verification he disclosed that he joined the outfit in October, 2010 through one Irengbam Bodhe, 36, s/o I. Biren of Awang Khunou Maning Leikai. One demand letter signed by the C-in-C of KCP (MC) AND Khuam Mangang Luwang district finance commander was seized from his possession.
In yet another incident, another team of Imphal West district police commandos apprehended another cadre of undergound KCP (MTF) identified as Longjam Shyamjai Singh, 42, son of late L Sobha Singh of Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar from Keishamthong Eleangbam Leikai near Model School yesterday evening around 5.30 am.
According to police source, during spot verification the arrested person revealed to the police that he was working in Finance Section as finance nominee under one Kesho of the outfit since last 4/5 months, and further disclosed that he had extorted huge amount of money from Electricty Department and handed over to the Kesho for party fund, the police has also recovered one mobile handset from his possession.
