IMPHAL Dec 7: The UNLF in a press statement stated that the UNLF does not support the 48-hour Manipur Bandh and has appealed to the concerned to call off the bandh in the interest of the public.

The release further states that the calling of such bandhs in regards the arrested UNLF chairman RK Meghen cannot bring any positive developments aside from causing grief to the daily wage earners.

It said this form of protest is anti-people and against the ethos of the revolutionary movement.

Without the support of the public, the revolutionary cause is a lost one, the statement said.

Further, the stand of the Indian Government that the UNLF leader was arrested in Bihar is a fictitious sham and betrays the attitude of the Centre that it is playing underhanded politics with the Bangladesh Government and views the country in an inferior manner, the release concluded.
