IMPHAL Dec 27: The Central Committee of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in a press release condemned the Indian Government for the wrongful detention of its chairman RK Meghen and stated that the public needs to endorse the call for a plebiscite initiated by the UNLF as the need of the hour to bring a peaceful solution to the conflict in the land.
The release further stated that the Indian government is trying to mislead the public by falsely claiming that RK Sanayaima @ Meghen was arrested from Motihari of Bihar district whereas the UNLF leader had claimed to the media that he was arrested from Bangladesh by the National Investigative Agency on September 29.
Such false statements is an example that the Indian Government do not cater to the ethics of the so called democracy or nor for the welfare of the people of Manipur, the release said.
The release further states that the Rk Meghen is innocent and he cannot be judged by the biased laws of the Indian Constitution as the chairman has not waged war against the Indian Nation but have simply demanded the right to self determination as per the guidelines laid down by the United Nations. The chairman is a freedom fighter trying to throw off the colonial yoke of the Indian Nation, the statement adds.
The statement said that if India truly believes itself to be a democratic nation, then the ‘Plebiscite proposal’ of the UNLF should not have been ignored.
