IMPHAL, Dec 21: In order to prevent any unwanted incident to occur during frantic shopping period in connection with the approaching festivals of Christmas and New Year, the Imphal West district police have set up emergency help centres.
A statement issued by the Senior SP, Imphal West district police, L. Kailun, stated that heavy shopping has started with the approaching Christmas, 2010 and New Year, 2011 in the Imphal Khwairamband Bazar. Customers are pouring in for shopping including customers from hill districts. Subsequently Mischief mongers, pick pocketers chain snatcher s, cheaters etc may take advantage of the crow thereby giving harassment/trouble to the general public/customers.
In view of the situation the Imphal West district police is working round the clock to help the general it said adding it appealed the customers/general public to give information for any kind of troubles or incident through the help centres.
