28 Assam Rifles spreads the spirit of Republic Day

IMPHAL, Jan 27:  The Republic Day, 2011, was celebrated yesterday by Lilong Post of 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 9 Sector HQ under IGAR(S) at Junior High School, Thiyam Konjin.

The School was established in the year 1965. It has classes till 8th standard. Despite lacking in infrastructure, the dedicated team of teachers led by headmaster Shree Amar Singh have produced brilliant students who exhibited exceptional potential and talent in various competitions during the function.
The National Flag was hoisted by the Post Commander of 28 AR Lilong Post. It was the first time that the National tri-colour flag was unfurled in the area after 46 years.
The Republic Day Celebration started with the hoisting of the National flag followed by the National Anthem.  The children of the school showed utmost zeal and enthusiasm in various events like poem recitation, singing, games and sports etc.
Suresh, Pradhan of Chanam Santhok and Dr. T. Tomba, retired professor of Manipur University attended the function as the  chief Guest and the guest of honour respectively.  A large number of local populace who participated in the event  was overwhelmed and thrilled by the spectacular show put up by the 28 Assam Rifles personnel and the enthusiastic Republic Day spirit displayed by the students of the school.
