All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) to continue stir against editor arrest

IMPHAL, Jan 14: The joint sitting of Standing Committee of All Manipur Working Journalist union (AMWJU) and editors held at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, this evening has reaffirmed the AMWJU’s former stand to continue with its agitations in connection with the arrest of A Mobi, vice president AMWJU by the police on alleged fake charges.
According to a release of AMWJU signed by its general secretary, N Phillips, the joint sitting of Standing Committee of AMWJU and editors of various local dailies discussed the ongoing agitations of the media and later decided to continue its agitation and also to take further steps in case the need arises.
The release further recalled that various newspapers and electronic media have been boycotting news and other programmes related with the Congress and CPI which are partners of the SPF government of the state, and also not to cover the news items that carried the achievements of the state Home and police department.
The release further mentioned that nothing has changed to the decision of continuing the agitation of the AMWJU.
