Bill amounting to Rs 4.28 lakhs collected on 3rd day drive

IMPHAL, Jan 27: The anti-power theft drive of the state electricity department was conducted today in areas of Langol Game Village Zone-IV, Brahmapur Aribam Leikai and Khurai Lamlong.

The power connections of 82 defaulting consumers whose due bills have not been cleared for quite a long time were disconnected during the drive. Moreover, two unauthorized power consumers and three consumers for excessive consumption of power were booked today under the Electricity Act.

The due bill amount of Rs 4, 28, 898 was also collected today from 67 consumers.

The electricity department has so far disconnected 247 power lines of defaulting consumers, booked 49 unauthorized consumers and Rs 10.53 lakhs have been collected from the spot bill collection during the drive.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union has appealed to the people of the state to render utmost help and support to the power drive of the electricity department launched under the guidance of chief engineer N. Sarat with the objective of augmenting the existing power supply in the state, said a release of the Union.

  1. I SUGGEST WE SHOULD NOT PAY THE BILL AND ENTERTAIN THOSE WHO CAME TO COLLECT BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN DEPRIVE OF OUR RIGHT TO ENJOY THE USE OF POWER BY FREQUENTLY CUTTING OFF.
