Bravery award for Md Nurul Huda of Phoubakchao

IMPHAL, Jan 22: A little unknown boy from the state today made the state proud by receiving the bravery award from the hands of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his exemplary bravery of saving a boy of KR Lane, Hatta Golapati from drowning in the Imphal river in 2010.
13 year old Md Nurul Huda of Phoubakchao presently residing at Hatta Minuthong, Imphal, who lives with his mother after he lost his father, was among the 23 children who were honoured today with the award.
Thirteen year old Md Nurul Huda of Phoubakchao presently residing at Hatta Minuthong, Imphal is currently in New Delhi to take part in the rehearsal for participation in the parade of the awardees.
Addressing the children after giving the awards, the prime minister said: `It gives me immense pleasure to award the National Bravery Award winners every year. The entire nation is proud and has great hopes for them. The future of the country is safe in hands of children like you`.
The 23 children will take part in the Republic Day parade Jan 26.
The National Bravery Award Scheme is an endeavor by the Indian Council for Child Welfare to give due recognition to the children who show exceptional courage and perform meritorious service to inspire others to emulate their example.
The children will get a medal, certificate and cash under the scheme and the awardees will be granted financial assistance until they complete their schooling. The Government has reserved some seats for the awardees in medical and engineering colleges and polytechnics.
