Discussion on power shortage today

IMPHAL, Jan 5: A Public discussion on ‘Crisis of Electricity in Manipur: Is there a way Out” will be organized by the Forum for Indigenous Perspectives and Action on January 6 at hotel Imphal.
Mentioning the objective of the discussion, a release of the forum mentioned that, the issue of the sustainable energy is at the root of any notion of development in particular and contemporary life of the people in general.
The release further mentioned that, Manipur state has been going through a crisis of electricity; particularly during the last decade and that this crisis has been affecting various aspects of our life in the state, from economy to social life. We have lived with darkness
that should remind us to seek for a solution which we have delayed for too long.
It also mentioned that the matters including, what does this speak of us as a people and Manipur as a state, what are the facts and the fictions behind this crisis of electricity in the state, what can be done to overcome this crisis and who can do it and what are the ways towards a more sustainable and adequate electric power production, supply and demand in the state.
The release also mentioned that, after the discussion a concrete action plan will be taken up to find a way out from this power crisis in the state.
The prominent and popular personalities like Prof. Amar Yuman, Manipur University, RK Kishore, Addl. Chief Engineer-I, Electricity Department, Government of Manipur, Pradip Phanjoubam, editor, Imphal Free Press,  Meihoubam Rakesh, Human Rights and Legal Network and Arunkumar, president Consumer Club Manipur will lead the public discussion which will be moderated by Dr A Bimol Akoijam, JNU, New Delhi the release added.
