IMPHAL, Jan 29: 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under the aegis HQ IGAR (South) in a noble effort organised an educational tour to New Delhi for orphaned children along with two teachers. During their first week of excursion they visited various Military and National leaders in Delhi. A number of NGO’s and corporate houses based in Delhi have come forward to help the children while their stay in Delhi. KABURU working at Thoubal Multipurpose project, Maphau and Phumdri removing at Loktak Lake too have come ahead in associating in this noble cause. The children visited prominent locations in Delhi including pristine national monuments.
The children on January 28 met with Sheila Dixit Chief Minister of Delhi. Speaking during the meeting she exhorted the participating children to learn and enjoy themselves during their tour. She was presented the traditional Manipuri Naga Shawl by the students as a token of their love and remembrance. A day prior to this the children met with DG NCC and others prominent personalities.
